Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

I hope you all enjoyed the holiday season and have made your New Year’s Resolutions.

We have a lot of new, exciting things for you all this year. In 2010, we will be helping with the Boy Scouts of America’s 100th Anniversary program, “Get in the Game! With Geocaching,” and will be placing many geocaches in the Beaver County, Pennsylvania area.

We will also be hosting a TechFest and Auction and the Baden American Legion on February 14. This event will be a Hamfest geared towards technology, meshing technology, amateur radio, Scouting, and geocaching together to provide an awesome experience. Check out the official site, TechFest.W3SGJ.org for more information.

And of course, we will be continuing everything that we have done last year, making this, in my opinion, the greatest amateur radio club to be a member of.

Here’s to the New Year!

More information on Scouting/Geocaching Program, “Get in the Game!”

The Boy Scouts of America, in partnership with Geocaching.com, is launching a new program called “Get in the Game! With Geocaching” in 2010.

What is “Get in the Game”?

For their 100th Anniversary Celebration, the BSA is tapping into the outdoor fun and excitement of geocaching and inviting you along for the adventure! Through Get in the Game! geocaching events, Scouts and non-Scouts alike will search for prizes in this fast-paced orienteering quest. It’s a great way to share interesting and useful Scouting skills — and outdoor adventure — with today’s tech savvy kids.

Geocachers — want to Help Scouts Get in the Game?

If you’re an active geocacher interested in helping Scouts and Scouters in your area, we’d love your help. Contact the 100th Anniversary Staff Adviser at your BSA local council to enroll in the 100th Anniversary National Leadership Team. Help bring the fun and adventure of geocaching to youth in your community!

TechFest Meeting Correction – Wednesday, DECEMBER 2

Hey everyone! Now that Thanksgiving is over we’re going to get back into the swing of things. We caught an error in one of our more recent posts saying that the TechFest Planning Meeting is on December 5. It is in fact on Wednesday, December 2. The meeting will be held in the upstairs part of the Legion. Please go through the front doors by Duss Avenue when you enter so we do not disturb the guests in the downstairs part of the Legion.

Please plan on attending this meeting! To RSVP, please email news@W3SGJ.org. This meeting is to plan for our upcoming TechFest in February, so if you’d like your opinions heard, please attend!

Also, if you can’t attend, please shoot us an email with your ideas and we will bring up your suggestions at the meeting.

Remember, the meeting will be located at:
The Baden American Legion
271 State Street
Baden, PA 15005

We hope to see you there!
